flashlight

Concept

A solar rechargeable flashlight for use in 3rd world countries.

Design

We worked with the entrepreneur to outline all design parameters including features like an adjustable beam, LED bulb, lowest possible number of pieces, and resistance to weather and sand.

Prototype

We created first and second generation prototypes on our 3D plastic printer. There were numerous design changes based on the functionality and feel of the first prototype. For example, the second generation included facets on the surface to keep the light from rolling when lying down on a non-level surface.

Manufacture

We are working to find sources for molding and manufacturing off-shore to keep costs extremely low.
